Clare Tone received her Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Utah in 1996. Since then she has worked in clinical settings including Exempla Saint Joseph and Centura Saint Anthony Hospitals (both in Denver). She is uniquely qualified to work with cancer patients and survivors, integrating current nutrition research to support cancer patients through their treatment and healing. She has strengthened her expertise in this area as a consulting dietitian to the oncology team at Greeley Medical Clinic, and more recently at Boulder Community Hospital’s Center for Integrative Care where she developed the nutrition education program for people undergoing active treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, surgery).

Clare also enjoys working with people with diabetes, gastro-intestinal issues, and heart disease, all the while incorporating holistic approaches to overall wellness. Her approach recognizes the uniqueness of each individual and aims to empower through building knowledge and skills. She enjoys diverse avenues for communicating nutrition including teaching, writing and counseling. She is Affiliate Faculty at Metropolitan State College of Denver where she teaches for both the Nutrition and Integrative Therapeutics Practice majors in the Department of Health Professions. She is a published author and an active writer on health, nutrition and wellness.

Clare loves to ski, hike and travel; she enjoys creating nourishing meals for family and friends. Her background in environmental biology keeps her interested in sustainability issues within nutrition and healthcare. As an educator, Clare resonates with the wisdom that you can ‘give a person a fish and they eat for a day, but teach someone to fish and they eat for a lifetime’.
